CAIRO - Police have detained an American-Egyptian man who arrived in Cairo on a flight from New York with several weapons in his luggage, airport officials said Wednesday
The officials said the man was taken into custody as he tried to pass through customs with a metal box containing two 9 mm handguns, 250 bullets, several swords, daggers and knives.
The box had been checked and the contents were discovered during a routine inspection upon arrival on an Egypt Air flight from New York's JFK International Airport in Cairo, according to the officials. They said customs inspectors were then alerted and the man was detained.
He was only identified as a botany teacher.
A police official confirmed the man was questioned by agents of the powerful State Security Apparatus and the case had been turned over to prosecutors for further investigation.
All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to reporters.

Historical Podcast - Plague of Athens
The disease’s rapid spread at Athens was helped by the overcrowded conditions resulting from the entire population of the countryside living inside the walls of the city due to the war. The plague also broke out at other places in Greece but nowhere was it as severe as at Athens.
No one was spared from the disease. According to some estimates as much as a third of the population of Athens may have died from the plague. Social order suffered and Athens’ war effort was also affected as many of their soldiers fell sick and perished from the illness. After two years the plague lapsed for a bit before returning for one last deadly round in 426.

This is my Wacky web tale using nouns and adjectives to create a poem
Wacky Web Tales is similar to the popular kid's game, Mad Libs. Students choose different words representing parts of speech, and the words are put into a funny story. More than 90 tales relate to the themes and stories in Houghton Mifflin, Reading. Students would find this activity silly and fun. Parts of Speech assistance is also available.

The Boy that kept on running (Storytelling)
There once was a boy who was known to have mind blowing speed. He was a great baseball player so one hot afternoon he stepped up to plate in the last inning his team 4 points from a win and he was the winning run bases loaded for him two out. And the pitcher started out firing blazing a fastball on the gun at 98mph then changed speeds throwing a curveball at 76mph! This kid was now down in the count 0-2 one more strike and the game would be over. But this pitcher was tired as well missing outside 3 times to run the ocunt full. It was a 3-2 count 2 outs bottom of the ninth and when the kid saw the pitch he swung hitting the ball directly down the right field line. This kid never stopped running from first .... to second .... to third. He by far had a triple but he wanted to push it he took the chance and went home halfway from home plate the shortstop got the ball threw it home all you could see was a cloud of dust. As the dust cleared the catcher was laid down on his back without the ball and the kid did it. He hit a inside the park Grand Slam! And this play was never seen again.

Weekend Post - Customs (Smoking)
Americans get very excited about the issue of smoking, and it is not a good idea to get Americans too excited about any particular issue. Smoking was highly acceptable a few decades ago, but now smokers are in a dwindling minority. Many states and local cities have laws limiting the public areas in which people may smoke, or mandating non-smoking areas in restaurants. Cigarette advertising has been banned from radio and television for many years. Many trains and airlines do not allow smoking at all. Most modern manufactured cigarettes are filtered and include reconstituted tobacco and other additives. The cigarette is also known to give cancer and many other diseases.

Throughout Martin Luther Kings speech he reiterates this issue of "The Other America." And speaks of generally two Americas one in which the economy is thriving and everyone in it is of higher stature. On the other hand there is another America in which the economy is near depression status and many people are homeless as well as unemployed. There were many issues during the 1960's in which were described as racism, unemployment, and the Jim Crow Laws which held restrictions on many African-Americans. In present day US there are many issues of which described unemployment a little racism in some parts but not bold. He also speaks of this issue called racism, racism is hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. Although the fact these two Americas no longer exist in the present day society there is just one combined society thriving or failing together. All in all "The Other America" was an issue that occurred during the late 1960's but has not arise in the 21st century as of yet.

Teen Caught Smuggling Drugs in M&Ms (Weekend Post)
Memphis, Tn - 19 year old Courtney Siddons is accused of smuggling more than 5 grams of marijuana to her 25 year old inmate cousin, Rodney McGregor. The two were confronted by a corrections officer during their visit inside the Shelby County Penal Farm on Sunday. Tabor says Siddons had already visited McGregor 4 or 5 times since his sentence on DUI and Revoked Driver's License charges began in December. But he says after a recent tip that she may try to get McGregor drugs while in jail, Siddons was flagged as a visitor. So, when she showed up Sunday with a bag of M and M's she didn't buy from the vending machine inside the visitation room, Tabor says they knew something was up and swooped in. In brief conclusion I believe Courtney has not been raised well by his parents and this may lead to a devastating lifestyle. 3 Teens Killed in Train accident (Weekend post)
Three teenage girls crossing a bridge in central Florida were killed by a freight train as they desperately tried to get out of its way, and their helpless friend on the other side could only watch.
The girls and the fourth teenager, a boy, were hanging out in Melbourne's downtown area known for its shops and nightclubs when they decided to cross the trestle around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The male made it across the tracks, turned around, heard the train, saw it and yelled for them to run. He then told them to jump.
The girls did not have enough time.
In brief statement the teens should have been on and or nowhere near a railroad track. These deaths will be highly investigated to the primary reason of intoxication or just curiosity.

Girl teen drivers are more distracted than boys (Weekend Post)
Differences between the sexes are becoming less noticeable when it comes to teenage driving.
In what seems like a role reversal, girls are expressing a new need for speed, while aggressive driving and speeding by boys is down.
According to Allstate Foundation's "Shifting Teen Attitudes: The State of Teen Driving 2009," 27 percent of girls admit to speeding at least 10 miles over the speed limit, vs. 19 percent of boys.
Also, 16 percent of girls report that they are very aggressive while driving, up from 9 percent in 2005. Meanwhile, 13 percent of teen boys admitted to being very aggressive while driving, vs. 20 percent in 2005.
All in all girl drivers seem to have been distracted while driving. Due to the percentage of speed limit as well as agressiveness.

High School student Tasered (Transcript)
On January 31, 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Mario Traver a sophomore at Monssen High School. Was tasered by a security guard after a basketball game when he was looking for his sister. He was believed to be tasered because he was sought to be running away from security officials when he was searching for his sister. So the security officials took action and tased him due to an order from the principal. The Parents of Mario seemed to be very agitated about the whole situation. Tarver's mother said she saw her son run into the gym and he collapsed at her feet. Mario said "I can't breath, my heart hurts," and then some officers came in and they're trying to make him put his hands behind his back. Hence the Tarver family says they plan to press charges against the school and the Monessen Police Department. All in all the whole altercation turned out to be a misunderstanding due to the chaos and the hetic situation. Read the article

"How Technology has evovled over time"
This Timeline shows a variation of computers. The computers start off really big and man operated by binary code. This includes a set of 1's and 0's. As time goes on scientists begin to create smaller computers that can protect against viruses and other cyber threats. They became more aware and could anticipate what you would do before you do it. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo compete against each other with Sony leading the way with its Playstation 3. In 2008 Bill Gates announces his retirement from Microsoft he will instead shift to Head of Development and Programming.

Grand Slam!
The Yankees have successfully traded Phil coke and Austin Jackson for all-star outfielder Curtis Granderson. He will be their starting center fielder for the upcoming 2010 season. Since Granderson was acquired there may be no need Johnny Damon a current Free Agent. Curtis Granderson will make approximately $25.75million over a few years. This deal is a great one made by Brian Cashman and he will certainly give the Yankees that depth they need in the outfield.
